MSSMP : No Place to Hide

چکیده
The Multipurpose Security and Surveillance Mission Platform (MSSMP) system is a distributed network of remote sensors mounted on vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) mobility platforms plus portable control stations. The system is designed to provide a rapidly deployable, extended-range surveillance capability for a wide variety of security operations and other tactical missions. While MSSMP sensor packages can be deployed on many types of mobility platforms, initial system demonstrations have used a Sikorsky Cypher VTOL unmanned aircraft as well as a portable sensor unit. In January 1997, the MSSMP system was demonstrated at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain facility at Ft. Benning, GA, flying down city streets, looking through lower-and upper-story windows ahead of advancing troops, and performing observations after landing on the roof of a two story building. The MSSMP system makes maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) subsystem-level components for sensing, processing, and communications, and of both established and emerging standard communications networking protocols and system integration techniques. This paper will (1) discuss the technical issues involved in focusing these elements to produce a system architecture that can flexibly support the range of configurations needed to address a wide variety of applications while facilitating the ongoing integration of new technology COTS components, and (2) present the results of recent user evaluations.

متن کاملUsing Government Resettlement Projects as a Sustainable Adaptation Strategy for Climate Change
Given that increasing migration has been addressed as a major consequence of climate change, a growing number of scholars suggest that the planned relocation of people or Government Resettlement Projects (GRPs) should be included in climate change adaptation. This paper reviews the status of climate change and environmentally induced migration in China, and then presents an empirical case study...
متن کاملNo place to hide: microclimates of Sonoran Desert Drosophila
1. We characterized year-round microclimate conditions (temperature and humidity) in and around necrotic cacti of the Sonoran Desert of southwestern North America. Necrotic cacti serve as host plants for four endemic species of Drosophila. 2. Flies in the field were exposed to high and variable temperatures, sometimes ranging between o5 C to >40 C in a single 24-h period. Habitat temperatures o...
متن کاملHigh capacity steganography tool for Arabic text using 'Kashida'
Steganography is the ability to hide secret information in a cover-media such as sound, pictures and text. A new approach is proposed to hide a secret into Arabic text cover media using "Kashida", an Arabic extension character. The proposed approach is an attempt to maximize the use of "Kashida" to hide more information in Arabic text cover-media. To approach this, some algorithms have been des...
